Description: (click here for general notes about my descriptions)
The Río Yucanguare is a low-volume creek that is worth checking out if you are passing through Jesús de Otoro. Expect a bumpy ride through the rocks with a good helping of wood obstacles. It is quite continuous at the beginning. You will pass a bridge (road to Santo Domingo) about halfway. Below are the run's best rapids, though the overall gradient is less. You will reach the Río Otoro about 30 minutes below the bridge, and find the rocky TO 100 m down on RL.
A full description is in the Mayan Whitewater El Salvador, Honduras, & Nicaragua guidebook.
Descent History: I ran the Lower in September 2016, with 450 cfs at the PI, and the Upper in October 2017, with 150 cfs at the PI.
