Description: (click here for general notes about my descriptions)

The Río Guacerique is the closest paddle to Honduras' high-altitude capital--thankfully upstream of it and not downstream--though only provides short rainy windows of opportunity. The creeky class III is rocky but forgiving at normal low levels. The action is busiest at the beginning, but the best rapids are below the Ciudad Mateo halfway bridge, which is reached 25 minutes in. Through those and 20 minutes below, you will pass a hammock bridge--the TO is 5 minutes later where a dirt path leads up to Nueva Aldea. On my run, the start of the reservoir lake was near this point.

Descent History: I ran this in October 2021, with 150 cfs at the PI.
