Description:

The Río Cacahuano is a small, mostly lazy, stream with an amusing name (meaning "bat crap"). It's a delightful corridor of cool spring water in the hot and humid Malpaso basin.

A full description is in the Mayan Whitewater: Chiapas & Belize guidebook.

Flow Notes: There is no online gauge. This stream will need plenty of recent rain to be runnable. You can check the flow at the highway bridge, km 152.5.

Accommodations: There are hotels to the south, in Ocozocoautla and Berriozábal, and to the north, in Malpaso Raudales.

Nearby Tourist Attractions: Not too many in this area.
